About the Ads.txt Generator

The Ads.txt Generator builds a correctly formatted IAB ads.txt file — the file at your site root that declares which companies are authorized to sell your ad inventory. Each row takes the ad system's domain, your publisher account ID, a DIRECT or RESELLER relationship and an optional certification authority ID.

Presets fill in the domain and known TAG certification ID for common systems like Google AdSense, PubMatic, Magnite, Index Exchange and OpenX, so you only add your own account ID. The tool flags duplicate entries and incomplete rows, and supports the CONTACT and OWNERDOMAIN variables.

Everything runs 100% locally in your browser — your account IDs are never uploaded anywhere. Publishers use ads.txt because buyers increasingly refuse unauthorized inventory; a missing or malformed file can quietly cost you revenue.

Frequently asked questions

What is ads.txt?

Ads.txt (Authorized Digital Sellers) is an IAB standard: a plain text file at your domain root listing every company allowed to sell or resell your ad space. Ad buyers check it to avoid counterfeit inventory, so unlisted sellers increasingly cannot monetize your site.

What is the format of an ads.txt line?

Four comma-separated fields: the ad system's domain, your account ID within that system, DIRECT or RESELLER, and an optional certification authority ID (the seller's TAG ID). For example: google.com, pub-1234567890123456, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0.

What is the difference between DIRECT and RESELLER?

DIRECT means you hold the account with that ad system and control it yourself. RESELLER means you have authorized another company to sell your inventory through their account. Using the wrong one is a common cause of demand partners rejecting inventory.

Where do I get my publisher account ID?

From each ad partner's own dashboard or onboarding email — for AdSense it is your pub- number. Never copy account IDs from another site's ads.txt; the ID must be the one that pays you, and the presets here deliberately leave it blank.

Where does the ads.txt file go?

Upload it to the root of your domain so it loads at https://yourdomain.com/ads.txt. It must be served over HTTP(S) as plain text; crawlers check the root location only, and subdomains with their own inventory need their own file.
