Frequently asked questions

Do QR codes generated here expire?

No. This tool encodes your data directly into the QR pattern with no shortener or redirect service in between, so the code works forever. Codes from services that route through their own URLs stop working when the service (or your subscription) ends.

How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?

It encodes a standard string like WIFI:T:WPA;S:MyNetwork;P:password;; that phones recognise natively. When someone scans it with their camera, the phone offers to join the network automatically — no typing the password.

What error correction level should I choose?

M (15% recovery) is the best default. Use L for very long data to keep the code simple, and Q or H (25–30%) when the code may get scratched, printed small, or have a logo placed over the centre.

Can I change the colors of a QR code?

Yes, but keep strong contrast: the modules should be much darker than the background, and scanners expect dark-on-light. Avoid inverting the colors or using light foregrounds, which many scanner apps fail to read.

What size should a printed QR code be?

A rule of thumb is a minimum of 2 × 2 cm (about 1 inch) for close-range scanning, and scan distance ÷ 10 for posters — a code scanned from 1 metre away should be at least 10 cm wide. Download at 512 px or more for crisp printing.

Is it safe to put my Wi-Fi password in a QR code?

The code is generated locally in your browser, so the password is never uploaded anywhere. Remember, though, that anyone who scans the printed code can join the network — treat the printout like the password itself.
