About the Age Calculator

The ByteTools Age Calculator computes your precise chronological age — years, months and days — from your date of birth, either as of today or as of any date you choose. It also converts your age into total months, weeks, days and hours, and counts down the days remaining until your next birthday.

It is useful for filling out forms that demand age on a specific date, checking eligibility for exams, jobs, visas or retirement, working out age differences, and settling the classic “exactly how old am I?” question with calendar-accurate math that handles leap years correctly.

Dates are processed entirely in your browser — your birth date is never transmitted or stored — and results update the moment you pick a date.

Frequently asked questions

How is exact age calculated?

Age is counted in completed calendar units: full years since birth, then full months since the last birthday, then leftover days. Someone born 15 March 2000 is exactly 26 years, 3 months and 19 days old on 4 July 2026.

How does the calculator handle leap years?

It uses real calendar dates, so 29 February and varying month lengths are handled automatically. A person born on 29 February celebrates their calendar birthday every four years, and the tool counts days to the next actual occurrence.

How many days old am I?

Multiply your age in years by 365.25 for a rough figure, or use this calculator for the exact count — it subtracts your birth date from today in whole days, including every leap day in between.

Can I calculate age at a past or future date?

Yes. Change the “as of” date to any date — for example an exam cut-off or a historical date — and the tool reports the exact age on that day. This is exactly how eligibility ages for exams and applications are checked.

Why do different age calculators give slightly different answers?

The years and total days are always the same, but the months-and-days remainder depends on whether months are counted from the birth day or the month end. This tool uses the common convention of completed months since the last birthday.
