About the Random Wheel Picker
The Random Wheel Picker turns any list into a colourful spinning wheel. Paste names, prizes, chores or lunch options — one per line — press spin, and an eased animation slows to a stop on a single winner. It is the fastest way to make a group decision feel fair and a little bit fun.
Teachers use it for cold calling, streamers for giveaways, and teams for deciding who runs the retro. You can give an entry extra weight so it takes up a bigger slice of the wheel, turn on remove-after-spin to draw a whole running order without repeats, and read back every winner in the history list.
Everything runs in your browser. The list never leaves your device, the winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random source before the wheel starts turning, and nothing is uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Is the spinning wheel actually random?
Yes. The winner is chosen with crypto.getRandomValues, your browser's cryptographically secure random source, and the wheel is then animated so it lands on that result. The animation is presentation only, so it cannot bias the outcome.
How do I make one name more likely to win?
Add a pipe and a number after the name, for example Charlie | 3. That entry gets three times the slice of a normal entry, so it is three times as likely to be picked. Entries without a weight count as one.
Can I stop the same name winning twice?
Tick the Remove the winner after each spin box. After every spin the winning line is deleted from your list, so repeated spins produce a full running order with no repeats.
How many entries can the wheel hold?
There is no hard cap, but labels stop being readable past roughly 30 slices. With very long lists the wheel still picks fairly — you just may prefer to read the winner from the result line rather than the wheel itself.
Does the wheel picker work offline?
Yes. The whole tool is JavaScript and canvas running on your device with no server calls, so it keeps working with no internet connection once the page has loaded.
