About the Rotate PDF

The ByteTools PDF Rotator turns pages the right way up and saves the rotation permanently into the file. Rotate the whole document or just a range of pages by 90° clockwise, 180°, or 270° (90° counter-clockwise), then download the corrected PDF.

Rotation happens locally in your browser — the PDF never leaves your computer. That means scanned contracts, ID documents and financial statements stay private while you fix their orientation.

It is the quick fix for sideways scans, upside-down phone captures and mixed-orientation documents where only a few landscape pages need turning before printing or sharing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I permanently rotate a PDF and save it?

Viewers like a browser only rotate the display temporarily. This tool writes the rotation into the PDF's page settings, so after you download the file it opens the right way up everywhere — in email previews, print dialogs and on other people's devices.

Can I rotate just one page of a PDF?

Yes. Select range mode and enter the same number for the first and last page — for example from 3 to 3 — and only that page is rotated while the rest of the document stays untouched.

What is the difference between rotating 90 and 270 degrees?

90° turns the page clockwise (to the right) and 270° is the same as turning it 90° counter-clockwise (to the left). 180° flips the page upside down, which fixes documents scanned in reverse.

Does rotating a PDF affect quality or file size?

No. Rotation only updates a page-orientation value in the PDF's metadata; the text, fonts and images are untouched, so quality is identical and the file size barely changes.

Why can't I rotate my PDF?

If the file is password-protected or damaged, the tool cannot open it and will show an error. Unlock encrypted files with their password first, or re-save a corrupted PDF from a working viewer, then try again.
