About the Add Signature to PDF
Signing a PDF usually means printing it, signing it, scanning it and emailing back a crooked grey rectangle. This tool skips all of that: draw your signature directly on the page, position it on the document, and download a signed PDF that still looks like a proper document.
You can draw with a mouse, a trackpad or a finger on a touchscreen, choosing the ink colour and pen width. If you already have a scanned signature saved as a transparent PNG you can upload that instead. Either way, the signature is trimmed to its ink, embedded at the size and opacity you choose, and placed by clicking straight onto a live preview of the page.
Your signature is personal data and your contract is your business, so both stay on your computer — the drawing, the document and the finished file are all handled in the browser. Note that this produces a visible signature image, not a cryptographic digital signature.
Frequently asked questions
Is a drawn signature on a PDF legally binding?
In many countries an electronic signature is valid for everyday agreements, but the rules vary by jurisdiction and by document type — property deeds and wills often need more. Check the requirements that apply to you, and use a certificate-based service when one is required.
What is the difference between this and a digital signature?
This places a picture of your signature on the page. A digital signature is a cryptographic certificate that also proves the file has not been altered since signing. If a counterparty asks for a certified signature, you need the latter.
Can I sign on my phone?
Yes. The signature pad accepts touch input, so drawing with a finger on a phone or tablet works well — often better than a mouse, because the stroke is smoother.
Why should my uploaded signature be a transparent PNG?
A JPG or an opaque PNG carries a white box around the ink, which will cover whatever it is placed over. A PNG with a transparent background lets the document show through around the strokes.
Is my signature stored anywhere?
No. It exists only in your browser tab and disappears when you close or reload the page. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing is saved between visits.
