What the calculator computes
The tool combines two classic formulas. For a starting lump sum it uses FV = PV × (1 + r)^n. For regular deposits it adds an annuity term that grows each contribution to the end date. Step by step

- Enter a regular contribution (optional) that is added each period, such as a monthly deposit into savings.
- Enter the rate per period as a percentage. Match it to the period: a monthly plan uses the annual rate divided by 12.

Keep your rate and periods consistent
The most common setup mistake is mixing an annual rate with a monthly period count. Keep the two aligned, as in the table below.

Suppose you have 5,000 today, add 200 each month, expect 6% a year, and want a 10-year horizon. Set the rate to 0.5% per period (6 ÷ 12) and periods to 120 (10 × 12).
