About the Blur Part of an Image
This tool hides sensitive parts of a picture while leaving the rest sharp. Drag a rectangle over anything you want to obscure — a face, a licence plate, an address, an account number — and choose blur, pixelate or a solid black box. Add as many regions as you need and undo any mistake.
It is the practical way to censor screenshots before sharing them in bug reports, code reviews, social posts or public documentation, and to anonymise photos of people, vehicles or paperwork. Because only the selected rectangles are affected, the surrounding context stays perfectly readable — reviewers still see the whole screen, minus the parts that are nobody's business.
Everything is processed 100% locally in your browser on a canvas — the original image is never uploaded, which matters when the very thing you are hiding is confidential. For text, prefer pixelation or the black box at a strong setting: heavily pixelated or boxed content cannot be read back.
Frequently asked questions
How do I blur just one part of a picture?
Upload the picture, pick the blur style, and drag a rectangle over the area you want hidden. Only that region is blurred; the rest of the image stays sharp. Add more rectangles for additional areas.
Can blurred text be recovered or unblurred?
Light blur on short text can sometimes be partially reconstructed by specialised tools, so for genuinely sensitive information use a strong pixelation or the black-box mode — a solid box destroys the underlying pixels entirely.
What's the difference between blur and pixelate?
Blur softens the region by averaging neighbouring pixels smoothly, while pixelate replaces it with large solid blocks. Pixelation at a big block size is generally the safer choice for hiding text and faces.
Can I censor multiple areas in the same image?
Yes. Every rectangle you drag is added to a list of censored regions, and they are all applied together in the final download. Use Undo last or Clear all to correct mistakes.
Is it safe to use this on confidential screenshots?
Yes. The image is processed entirely inside your browser with the canvas API and is never transmitted anywhere, so the uncensored original stays on your device only.
