How do I make a white background transparent?
Upload the image and the tool usually detects the white background from the corners automatically. If not, click any white area in the preview, then raise the tolerance until all the white is gone and download the PNG.
Why does my image still have leftover background pixels?
The background probably isn't perfectly uniform — JPG compression and shadows create slightly different shades. Increase the tolerance to catch near-matches, and add feathering so the edges fade out instead of leaving a hard fringe.
Can this remove the background from a normal photo?
Only if the background is a reasonably flat, distinct color. This tool keys out pixels by color similarity; it cannot separate a person from a complex scene the way AI background removers do. For solid backdrops, though, it is fast and precise.
Why must the output be PNG and not JPG?
JPG has no alpha channel, so it cannot store transparency — a transparent area saved as JPG becomes solid white or black. PNG keeps per-pixel transparency, which is why the tool always exports PNG.
Does the tolerance slider affect my subject?
It can if the subject contains colors close to the background — for example a white shirt on a white backdrop. Use the lowest tolerance that clears the background, and re-pick the key color if the wrong areas start disappearing.
