About the Open Graph Generator

The Open Graph Generator creates the og: meta tags that control how your page looks when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord and most other platforms. Fill in the title, description, URL, image and type, and the complete meta block updates live.

A built-in preview card mocks up how your link will roughly appear in a social feed — image area, title, description and domain — so you can judge the snippet before you publish.

The tool runs entirely in your browser with no uploads or accounts. It's perfect for developers wiring up share metadata, content teams checking campaigns, and anyone whose links keep showing the wrong image.

Frequently asked questions

What size should an Open Graph image be?

Use 1200×630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio). Facebook and LinkedIn render this size without cropping, and it stays sharp on high-resolution screens. Keep files under about 8 MB and always use an absolute URL — relative paths will not work.

Why is my link preview showing the wrong image?

Platforms cache OG data aggressively. After changing tags, force a refresh with Facebook's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector. Also make sure the og:image URL is absolute, publicly accessible (not blocked by robots.txt or a login), and served over HTTPS.

Do Open Graph tags affect Google rankings?

Not directly — OG tags are a social protocol created by Facebook, not a Google ranking signal. They matter for click-through from social platforms, and Google may occasionally use them as fallback metadata, but your title tag and meta description handle search itself.

What is the difference between og:type website and article?

Use 'website' for home pages and general pages, and 'article' for blog posts and news stories. The article type unlocks extra properties like article:published_time that some platforms display. Products on e-commerce sites can use 'product'.

Do I still need Twitter Card tags if I have Open Graph?

X (Twitter) falls back to OG tags for most fields, but you need at least twitter:card to control the card format (for example summary_large_image). Adding both sets gives you full control — use our Twitter Card Generator alongside this tool.
