Edit the title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer and dates of a PDF in your browser, or wipe every property with a single click.
What is the PDF Metadata Editor?

- Pre-fills every field with the document's real current values
- Edits title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer
- Date pickers for the creation and modification timestamps
- One-click Clear everything, plus Restore original values

- Runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded

About the PDF Metadata Editor
Every PDF carries a document information dictionary: title, author, subject, keywords, the app that created it, the app that produced it, and two timestamps. Those values follow the file around, show up in search results on a shared drive, and quietly reveal who wrote a document and on which computer.
This editor loads the current values into eight labelled boxes so you can see exactly what is there before you change anything. Fix a wrong author, give a scanned file a proper title, or hit Clear everything to blank the lot before sending a document outside your organisation.
The PDF is parsed and rewritten entirely in your browser with pdf-lib, so nothing is uploaded. Page content is untouched — only the properties change.
Frequently asked questions
How do I change the author of a PDF?
Drop the file here, type the new name into the Author box and click Save PDF. The downloaded copy carries the new author while the original on your disk stays exactly as it was.
Does removing PDF metadata make the file anonymous?
It removes the obvious identifying properties, but not everything. Text in the document, embedded images, digital signatures and XMP metadata written by some producers can still carry clues, so treat this as one step rather than a guarantee.
Why is Producer set to something I have never heard of?
Producer records the library or printer driver that wrote the actual PDF bytes, which is often different from the app you used. Word documents exported to PDF, for example, usually name a Microsoft rendering component rather than Word itself.
Can I remove the creation and modification dates completely?
Yes. Leave both date boxes blank and tick the remove-dates option, then save. The tool deletes those two entries from the information dictionary instead of writing a fake timestamp in their place.
