About the PDF to One Long Image

Sometimes you need a picture, not a document: a preview for a blog post, a screenshot-style image for a chat message, a contact sheet of a slide deck, or a long scrolling image for social media. This tool renders every page of a PDF and draws them all onto one canvas.

Choose whether the pages stack top to bottom, run left to right or fill a multi-column grid, set the gap between them, pick a background colour and choose the rendering resolution. The result is exported as a lossless PNG or a smaller JPG.

Rendering happens with pdf.js in your own browser and nothing is uploaded. Browsers cap how large a canvas can be, so if your chosen resolution would exceed that, the tool quietly reduces it and tells you the percentage it actually used.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a whole PDF into one image?

Upload it, leave the layout on stacked and click Make One Image. All the pages are rendered and drawn onto a single tall canvas, then exported as one PNG or JPG.

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

PNG for text-heavy documents, diagrams and screenshots — it is lossless so small type stays crisp. JPG for photographic pages where a much smaller file matters more than perfect edges.

Why was my resolution reduced automatically?

Browsers refuse canvases past roughly 16,000 pixels a side and about 100 megapixels in total. A long document at 3× would sail past that, so the tool scales down to the largest size it can actually produce.

Can I get one image per page instead?

Yes — use the PDF to Images tool, which exports each page as its own PNG or JPG file. This tool is for the opposite job, where you want everything on a single canvas.

Is the text in the image still selectable?

No. An image is pixels. If you need selectable text, keep the PDF or extract the text with the PDF to Text tool.
