Stock Profit Calculator
Work out net profit on a share trade after commissions, with return percentage, break-even sell price and annualised return across multiple buy lots.
Buy lots
Left box is the number of shares, right box is the price you paid per share. Add a lot for every separate purchase and the average entry price is worked out for you.
Position breakdown
| Total shares | 100 |
| Average buy price | $50.0000 |
| Purchase cost (before fees) | $5,000.00 |
| Cost basis (with buy fees) | $5,010.00 |
| Sale proceeds (after sell fees) | $5,990.00 |
| Total commissions and fees | $20.00 |
| Net profit / loss | $980.00 |
Net profit = (shares × sell price − sell fees) − (purchase cost + buy fees). The annualised figure uses (1 + return)365/days − 1, so a 5% gain held 182.5 days annualises to 10.25%. Taxes, dividends and currency effects are not included. Arithmetic only, not investment advice.
What is the Stock Profit Calculator?
The ByteTools Stock Profit Calculator turns a share trade into the four numbers that actually matter: what you made after fees, what that is as a percentage, the price you needed to sell at just to break even, and what the gain works out to per year.
- Multiple buy lots with an automatic average entry price
- Separate buy and sell commissions folded into the cost basis
- Break-even sell price that covers both sides of the fees
- Annualised return from any holding period in days
- Full breakdown of cost basis, proceeds and fees
- Runs entirely offline in your browser; no account, no upload

About the Stock Profit Calculator
The ByteTools Stock Profit Calculator turns a share trade into the four numbers that actually matter: what you made after fees, what that is as a percentage, the price you needed to sell at just to break even, and what the gain works out to per year. Add a separate buy lot for every purchase and it averages your entry price for you.
It suits anyone reconciling a closed position, sizing up a sale before placing it, or comparing a quick trade against a long hold. Commissions on both sides are entered separately, because fees are exactly what turns a small paper gain into a small real loss.
Every figure is calculated in your browser and nothing is uploaded, stored or sent anywhere, so it is safe to use with real position sizes. Results are arithmetic for your own planning and are not investment advice.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate profit on a stock?
Take the number of shares times the sell price, subtract your selling fees, then subtract what you originally paid including buying fees. That difference is your net profit. Dividing it by the cost basis gives the percentage return on the money you had at risk.
What is the break-even price on a stock?
It is the sell price that leaves you exactly level after both commissions, calculated as (purchase cost + buy fees + sell fees) ÷ shares. Buying 100 shares at $50 with $10 fees each way means you need $50.20 a share just to get your money back.
How do I annualise a stock return?
Raise one plus your total return to the power of 365 divided by the days you held it, then subtract one. A 5% gain over roughly six months annualises to 10.25%, because the formula assumes you could repeat that result for a full year.
Does this calculator include taxes on my gains?
No. It stops at pre-tax profit, because capital gains rates depend on your country, your income and how long you held the shares. Take the net profit shown here and apply your own tax rate to it.
How do I handle shares bought at different prices?
Add a buy lot for each purchase. The calculator totals the shares and the money spent, then divides to get your true average entry price, which is what the profit and break-even figures are based on.
Is my trading data sent anywhere?
No. All the maths runs inside your browser tab and nothing is transmitted or saved, so your position sizes and prices stay entirely private.
