Speed, font size, line height and side margin are all sliders, so you can tune the line length until each line is a comfortable breath. What speed should a teleprompter run at?

Most people present comfortably at 130 to 150 words per minute, which is the natural pace of clear conversational speech. Start at 140, record a test line, and nudge the speed with the arrow keys until the scroll matches how you actually talk.

Why does a teleprompter show mirrored text?

A beam-splitter rig reflects the screen off angled glass in front of the lens, and that reflection reverses the image. Turning on horizontal mirroring cancels the reversal so the text reads correctly to you while the camera sees straight through the glass.

How long will my script take to read?

Divide the word count by your speaking rate in words per minute. This tool does it automatically and shows both the total running time and the time remaining as the script scrolls, so you can trim to fit a slot before you record.

Does the teleprompter work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded there are no network requests, so it keeps scrolling on a plane, in a studio with no signal, or with the connection switched off entirely. Nothing about your script depends on a server.

Is my script uploaded anywhere?

No. The script stays in this browser tab and is never sent to a server or saved anywhere, which means confidential briefings and unreleased announcements are safe. Closing or reloading the tab clears it, so keep your own copy.
