About the Photo Slideshow Video Maker
The ByteTools Photo Slideshow Video Maker turns a set of images into a finished MP4. Drop the photos in, drag them into order with the Up and Down buttons, set how many seconds each one is shown, and optionally add a crossfade so one picture dissolves into the next instead of cutting hard.
Photos of different shapes and sizes are handled for you: each one is drawn onto the chosen frame size before rendering, either fitted whole with black edges or filled to the frame with the overflow cropped. You can add an audio file as background music, and it is trimmed to the slideshow's length automatically.
Everything runs 100% locally in your browser using a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg. Your photos and your music are never uploaded to a server. Rendering H.264 on your own device takes real time, and crossfades in particular add a lot of work, so a two-dozen-photo slideshow with dissolves is a few minutes rather than a few seconds.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a slideshow video from photos?
Drop your images onto the page, put them in the order you want with the Up and Down buttons, choose how long each photo should be shown, and click Create slideshow. The result is a standard MP4 you can post anywhere.
Can I add music to my photo slideshow?
Yes. Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG file into the background music box and it is added to the video. The track is trimmed to the slideshow's length, so a long song simply stops when the last photo does.
How long should each photo be shown?
Three seconds is a comfortable default that gives people time to look without dragging. Use two seconds for a fast, energetic montage, and four or five when the photos are detailed or there is narration to follow.
Why was my crossfade shortened?
A dissolve has to be shorter than the slide it eats into, otherwise there is no time when a photo is fully visible. If your crossfade is longer than the seconds-per-photo setting, the tool trims it and tells you — raise the time per photo for a longer dissolve.
What photo formats can I use?
Anything your browser can display works, including JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF. Each image is redrawn onto the chosen frame size before rendering, so you can mix portrait and landscape photos freely without preparing them first.
