About the Year Progress Calculator

The ByteTools Year Progress Calculator shows how far through the year you are, as a percentage that updates every second. Alongside the year it tracks the current quarter, month, week and day, each with a progress bar, the window it covers, and how much time is left — days for the longer periods and a live countdown for today.

The percentages come from the elapsed milliseconds divided by the real length of each period, taken from actual calendar boundaries. That means a leap year is 366 days without a special case, months are their true length, and a day spanning a daylight saving change is correctly 23 or 25 hours long rather than a hard-coded 24.

There is also a copyable text bar in four styles with an adjustable width, for status posts, bios and terminal prompts. The clock is only read after the page becomes interactive, so nothing flickers on load, and every figure is computed 100% locally in your browser with nothing uploaded.

What percentage of the year has passed?

It depends on the moment you ask, which is why this page recalculates every second from your device's clock. The figure is the elapsed milliseconds since 1 January divided by the full length of the year, shown to two decimal places with the days remaining beside it.

Does the calculator handle leap years?

Yes. The year's length is taken from the real boundary between 1 January of this year and 1 January of the next, so a leap year automatically measures 366 days. No adjustment or special case is needed and the percentage stays correct.

Which time zone are the percentages based on?

Your own. Period boundaries are local midnights and local month and year starts, read from your device once the page becomes interactive, so the figures match the calendar on your wall rather than UTC.

How do I post a year progress bar?

Choose a bar style and width, then copy the year bar and paste it into your post, bio or status. The bar is made of plain text characters, so it renders anywhere without an image, and the percentage is included at the end of the line.

Why are the percentages blank for a moment when the page opens?
