About the Attendance Percentage Calculator

The ByteTools Attendance Percentage Calculator does two jobs at once. It tells you where your attendance stands right now, and it tells you what to do about it — how many more classes you can safely miss while staying above the minimum, or how many you must attend without a break to climb back over it.

Most institutions set the bar at 75%, but the requirement is editable because plenty use 80%, 85% or a course-specific figure. The result is colour-coded against your target so a glance is enough, and the recovery maths accounts for the fact that every class you attend also raises the total held.

It refuses to divide by zero when no classes have been held yet, and rejects impossible entries such as attending more classes than were scheduled. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing about your record is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate attendance percentage?

Divide the classes you attended by the classes held and multiply by 100. Attending 42 of 56 classes gives 42 ÷ 56 × 100 = 75%, exactly on a 75% requirement.

How many classes can I miss with 75% attendance required?

It depends on how many are left. If you have attended 48 of 60, you can miss up to four more before dropping below 75% — the calculator works this out for you, assuming every remaining class counts.

How do I get my attendance back above 75%?

Attend consecutive classes without missing any. Each one adds to both your attended count and the total held, so recovery is slower the further you have fallen. The tool shows the exact number you need.

Does this account for medical leave or exemptions?

No. Condoned absences, medical leave and duty leave are handled differently at every institution — some exclude them from the total held, some count them as attended. Enter your figures the way your department records them.

Why is 75% attendance required?

It is a common regulatory minimum for exam eligibility at schools and universities, particularly in India, meant to ensure a baseline of classroom contact. The exact figure and the penalty for missing it vary by institution.
