Is my exam timetable saved?

Yes, in this browser's local storage on this device only. It survives closing the tab, but it is not synced anywhere and clearing your browser data or using private browsing will remove it.

Which time zone does the countdown use?

Your device's own time zone. If you are sitting an exam in a different zone, enter the local time of the exam venue and the countdown will be off by the difference — convert it first with a time zone converter.

Does the countdown keep running if I close the tab?

The display only ticks while the page is open, but it is calculated from the exam's date and time, not from elapsed session time. Reopen the page any time and it shows the correct remaining time immediately.

Can I count down to something other than an exam?

Of course — assignment deadlines, application closing dates, results day or the start of term all work the same way. For a simple duration timer, the countdown timer tool is a better fit.
