Patreon Earnings Calculator

See what you really keep from Patreon after the platform fee, payment processing, micro-pledge rates, payout fees and declined cards, per month and per patron.

Membership tiers

Payment processing and payout

Small pledges are charged a different processing rate because a fixed per-transaction fee eats a much larger share of a $2.00 pledge than of a $20.00 one.

Every rate is an editable default rather than a hard-coded constant, because Patreon has changed its plans and processing bands more than once and the numbers differ by country and payment method. Check your own creator dashboard for the rates that apply to you. Nothing is fetched and no account is connected — this runs entirely in your browser.

What is the Patreon Earnings Calculator?

A Patreon earnings calculator that takes gross pledges tier by tier, then subtracts declined payments, the platform fee, per-pledge payment processing at both the standard and micro-pledge rates, and a payout or currency-conversion fee to give true net income.

  • Unlimited membership tiers with add and remove controls
  • Separate micro-pledge processing band applied automatically below your threshold
  • Declined payments modelled as lost revenue that also avoids a processing fee
  • Full fee waterfall from billed gross down to money in your pocket
  • Net per paying patron and an overall take-home percentage
  • Every fee rate editable, so the tool survives a change to Patreon's plans

How to use the Patreon Earnings Calculator

  1. 1

Set your currency and your Patreon plan's platform fee percentage.

  2. 2

Add one row per membership tier with its name, monthly price and patron count — use the add and remove buttons to match your real tier list.

  3. 3

In the processing panel, set the standard percentage and fixed fee, then the micro-pledge threshold and its own rate for small pledges.

  4. 4

Add your payout or currency-conversion fee and the percentage of cards that decline each month.

  5. 5

Read the net figure, then open the fee waterfall to see exactly where each deduction comes from and check the per-tier table for micro-rate tiers.

About the Patreon Earnings Calculator

The gap between a creator's public Patreon total and the money that reaches their bank account is usually 15 to 25%, and almost none of it is the headline platform fee. Payment processing is charged per pledge, so a hundred small patrons cost far more to collect than ten large ones, and a slice of cards simply decline each month. This calculator makes all of that visible.

Build your tier list with a name, price and patron count for each, then set the fee structure. Pledges below the micro-pledge threshold are automatically charged at the small-transaction rate, and the per-tier table flags which ones those are — usually a surprise for anyone running a one- or two-dollar entry tier.

Every rate is an editable default rather than a hard-coded constant, because plans and processing bands change and differ by country. Nothing is fetched, no account is connected, and the entire calculation happens in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Patreon take from creators?

There is the headline platform percentage set by your plan, and then payment processing charged on every individual pledge. Together they typically remove more than the plan percentage alone suggests, which is why this tool separates the two rather than quoting one number.

Why do small pledges cost more in fees?

Payment processing is a percentage plus a fixed amount per transaction, and that fixed amount does not shrink with the pledge. On a two-dollar pledge it can be more than 10% of the total, whereas on a twenty-dollar pledge it is barely noticeable.

What percentage of Patreon pledges fail?

A few percent of cards decline each month through expiry, insufficient funds or fraud checks — the exact figure depends on your audience and their countries. This tool treats declined pledges as revenue you never collect, and therefore never pay processing on either.

How do I work out my net Patreon income per patron?

Divide total net income by the number of patrons whose payments actually cleared, which is what the per-paying-patron figure here does. Using your headline patron count instead overstates the average because it includes people whose cards failed.

Are these fee rates guaranteed to be current?

No, and that is deliberate. Patreon has changed its plans and processing bands more than once, and rates vary by country and payment method. Every field is pre-filled with a sensible default that you should overwrite with the numbers from your own creator dashboard.
