About the Paycheck Calculator
The ByteTools Paycheck Calculator estimates your take-home pay from a gross salary using tax and deduction rates that you enter yourself. Rather than guessing at any one country's tax brackets, it stays transparent: you type the total percentage withheld for tax plus any other deductions, and it shows the net amount for weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly and monthly pay periods.
It is useful for employees checking a payslip, freelancers budgeting after estimated taxes and anyone comparing job offers on a like-for-like net basis. Because you supply the rates, it works anywhere in the world without assuming a specific tax system.
This is a simplified, flat-rate estimate — it does not model progressive brackets, allowances or region-specific rules — so treat it as a planning guide. All math runs locally in your browser with nothing uploaded, and the results are estimates, not tax or financial advice.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate take-home pay from a salary?
Subtract your total tax and deductions from your gross pay. This calculator multiplies your gross salary by the tax and deduction percentages you enter, subtracts them and divides the remainder across pay periods, so you see the net amount you actually receive each week, fortnight or month.
Why do I enter my own tax percentage?
Tax systems differ hugely by country, state and income level, and hardcoding one country's brackets would be wrong for most users. By letting you enter your effective tax rate, the tool stays transparent and works everywhere — you can read your rate off a payslip or a tax estimate.
What is the difference between weekly, biweekly and semi-monthly pay?
Weekly pay is 52 cheques a year, biweekly is 26 (every two weeks), semi-monthly is 24 (twice a month) and monthly is 12. The annual net is the same, but each cheque differs in size, which is why the calculator shows all of them.
Does this include Social Security, pension or benefit deductions?
Only if you include them in the percentages you enter. The tool uses a single tax rate and an optional deductions rate, so bundle any retirement, insurance or benefit withholdings into those figures to reflect your real payslip.
Is my salary information private?
Yes. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is uploaded or saved, so your salary and deduction details never leave your device.
