About the Quotation & Estimate Generator

The ByteTools Quotation Generator turns a list of jobs, products or services into a clean, professional quote you can send to a client the same afternoon. Add as many line items as you need, set a quote number and a valid-until date, apply a discount and a tax rate, and watch the subtotal and total update as you type.

It is built for freelancers, tradespeople, agencies and small businesses who need a proper-looking estimate without paying for accounting software. You can drop in your own PNG or JPG logo, write your own terms and conditions, and pick the currency symbol that matches your invoices.

The PDF is assembled entirely inside your browser using pdf-lib and saved straight to your device — your client names, prices and logo are never uploaded to a server. Nothing is stored, so it is safe to use with real commercial figures.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a quotation and an invoice?

A quotation is an offer: it tells a customer what a job will cost before any work happens, and it usually carries an expiry date. An invoice is a demand for payment issued after the work is done. Many businesses send a quote first, then convert the accepted quote into an invoice.

How long should a quotation be valid for?

Thirty days is the most common validity period, and it protects you from being held to a price after your own costs have moved. Set the valid-until date to whatever suits your supply chain — shorter for volatile material prices, longer for stable service work.

Is a quotation legally binding?

A quotation generally becomes binding once the customer accepts it in writing, which is why the terms and the expiry date matter. An estimate, by contrast, is usually treated as an approximation. Rules differ by country, so word your terms to say clearly which one you are sending.

Can I add my company logo to the quote?

Yes. Choose any PNG or JPG file and it is embedded into the top-right of the PDF at the correct aspect ratio. The image is read locally by your browser and never leaves your device.

Are my client details uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole document is built in your browser and downloaded directly to your computer. There is no account, no server and no copy of your quote kept anywhere.
