Retirement Date Calculator

Work out your exact retirement date from your date of birth and chosen retirement age, then count the years, days, working days and pay periods left.

Statutory pension age depends on your country and often on your exact year of birth — the UK, US, Australia, Germany and India all differ, and several are still rising. That is why the retirement age here is something you enter rather than something this page assumes. Look up your own state pension age or scheme rules first, then put that figure in. These are date calculations, not financial or pension advice.

About the Retirement Date Calculator

Give this calculator your date of birth and the age you will retire at, in years and optional extra months, and it returns the exact calendar date. Day-of-month clamping is handled properly, so a 31 March birthday plus a month lands on 30 April rather than spilling into May.

It then counts what is left between any date you choose and that retirement date: years, months and days; total days and whole weeks; Monday-to-Friday working days; and how many monthly, fortnightly and weekly pay dates you have still to collect. You can also enter a service start date to see your length of service at retirement.

Statutory pension age depends on your country and often on your exact birth year, and several are still rising, so the retirement age here is something you enter rather than something the tool assumes. These are date calculations only, not financial or pension advice. Everything runs locally in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What is my exact retirement date?

It is your date of birth plus your retirement age. Enter both here and the tool returns the exact day, along with how long is left from today. If your scheme uses years and months, such as 66 and 10 months, enter both parts.

Why does this tool not know my state pension age?

Because it is not universal. It differs between countries, is being raised on different timetables, and in many schemes depends on your exact year of birth. Look yours up on your government or scheme website and enter it, so the result is right for you rather than approximately right for someone.

How many working days do I have left before I retire?

The tool counts every Monday to Friday between your chosen start date and your retirement date. It does not subtract public holidays or annual leave, so treat it as an upper bound on the days you will actually be at work.

How are the remaining pay periods worked out?

Monthly pay dates are counted as the whole months remaining plus one if any part of a further month is left. Fortnightly and weekly counts divide the remaining days by 14 and 7 and round up, assuming pay continues through your final month.

Is this financial or pension advice?

No. This is arithmetic on calendar dates only. It says nothing about how much pension you will receive, whether retiring early reduces it, or what tax will apply. Speak to a regulated adviser or your scheme administrator for that.

Is my date of birth sent anywhere?

No. Every calculation runs as JavaScript in your browser and nothing is transmitted or stored on a server. The page works with no network connection once it has loaded.
