How do I fix a video that plays sideways?

Why does my video look fine on my phone but sideways on my computer?

Phones often record sideways and just add a rotation flag that tells players how to display the clip. Some desktop players and editors ignore that flag. This tool bakes the rotation into the pixels themselves, which removes the ambiguity for good.

Does rotating a video lose quality?

Rotation requires a re-encode, but at the default quality setting (CRF 23) the difference from the original is very hard to see. The resolution itself is preserved — a 1920×1080 clip becomes 1080×1920 when rotated 90°.

Can this rotate a video without re-encoding it?

No — the in-browser engine writes a genuinely rotated video instead of only setting a rotation flag, because flag-only rotation is ignored by many players and editors. The re-encode is what guarantees the result works everywhere.
