About the Sprint Date Calculator

The ByteTools Sprint Date Calculator lays out a whole run of agile sprints from three inputs: when the first one starts, how many weeks each lasts and how many you want. Sprints run back to back with no gap, and each row shows the start, end, review and retrospective dates together with the ISO week numbers it spans.

Ceremony dates follow the pattern your team uses — review and retro both on the last day, review on the last day with the retro the next working day, or both on the first working day of the next sprint. Weekends can be excluded, and company holidays you paste in reduce the working-day count shown against each sprint.

You can continue an existing numbering sequence by setting the first sprint number, and rename the series with your own prefix. Export the schedule as CSV for a spreadsheet, or as an .ics for the team calendar. Everything is generated 100% locally in your browser and nothing you enter is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a sprint be?

Two weeks is the most common length, with one, three and four-week sprints also in use; Scrum caps a sprint at one month. This tool accepts anything from one to twelve weeks, so you can model a longer release train as well as a normal sprint cadence.

Do sprints run back to back?

Yes. In this schedule each sprint starts the day after the previous one ends, with no gap between them. That is the standard Scrum cadence, and it means the whole programme length is simply the sprint length multiplied by the number of sprints.

When should the sprint review and retrospective happen?

Traditionally both fall on the last day of the sprint, with the review first. Teams that want breathing room often hold the retro on the next working day, and some run both at the start of the following sprint. All three patterns are options here.

How are the working days in a sprint counted?

Every day in the sprint span is checked: weekends are excluded if you tick that option, and any date in your holiday list is removed. The count also shows how many holidays reduced it, which is the number capacity planning actually needs.

Can I put the sprint schedule into our team calendar?

Download the ICS export and import it into Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. Each sprint becomes a free all-day block spanning its dates, with busy all-day events for the review and the retrospective so those show up as real commitments.
