About the vCard QR Code Generator
The vCard QR Code Generator builds a scannable contact card from your name, company, job title, phone numbers, email, website and address. Scan it with a phone camera and the device offers to save the whole contact in one tap — far more reliable than typing a name and number off a business card.
It is made for business cards, email signatures, conference badges, shop windows and CVs. Fields you leave blank are simply left out of the payload, so a minimal card with a name and a mobile number produces a small, easy-to-scan code, while a full card still works at a higher error-correction level.
The output follows the vCard 3.0 format, the version with the broadest phone support, and everything is generated locally in your browser. Your contact details are never uploaded, and you can also download the raw .vcf file to attach or import elsewhere.
Frequently asked questions
What is a vCard QR code?
It is a QR code containing a complete contact record rather than a link. When scanned, the phone recognises the vCard format and offers to add the person to the address book with every field already filled in.
Does a vCard QR code work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Both platforms recognise vCard data from the built-in camera app and prompt to create a new contact. vCard 3.0 is used here because it also has the widest support across older devices.
Why does my QR code look so dense?
Every extra field makes the payload longer, and longer payloads need more modules. Trim the address or the note, or lower the error-correction level, if the code is getting hard to scan at business-card size.
Can I put this QR code on a printed business card?
Yes, and it is one of the best uses for it. Print it at least 2 cm square, keep a clear white margin around it, and use the Q or H error-correction level so it still scans if the card gets scuffed.
What is the .vcf download for?
It is the same contact record as a file. Attach it to an email, import it into a CRM, or send it in a message — recipients open it directly to save the contact without scanning anything.
