How do I scan a WiFi QR code?

Open the normal camera app on iPhone (iOS 11 and later) or Android (Android 10 and later) and point it at the code. A banner appears offering to join the network; tap it and the phone connects without you typing anything.

Is it safe to put my WiFi password in a QR code?

The code is generated on your device and never sent anywhere, so the tool itself is safe. Remember, though, that anyone who can photograph the printed code can join your network — pin it where only guests reach it, and use a guest network if your router supports one.

Does a WiFi QR code work on both iPhone and Android?

Yes. The WIFI: payload format is a long-standing convention supported by the built-in camera on modern iOS and Android, plus most third-party scanners. Very old phones may need a dedicated QR app.

What is the hidden network option for?

If your router does not broadcast its SSID, the phone must be told the network is hidden or it will not find it. Ticking the box adds H:true to the payload so the device searches for the network by name.

Why is my WiFi QR code not connecting?

The most common cause is a mistyped SSID — it is case sensitive and must match exactly. Also check that the security type matches your router (WPA2 and WPA3 both use the WPA setting) and that the password has no stray spaces.

Do I need to reprint the code if I change my password?

Yes. The password is baked into the code, so a password change means generating and printing a new one. Nothing expires on its own — a code keeps working as long as the network details stay the same.
