Frequently asked questions
How many questions should a maths worksheet have?
Twenty to thirty is a common target for a ten-minute practice slot at primary level. Shorter, more frequent sheets generally beat one long one, because the recall practice is spread across more days.
Can I get a different sheet with the same settings?
Yes — press New questions. It reseeds the random number generator, so you get an entirely different set of questions at the same difficulty. The answer key regenerates with it, so the two always agree.
How do the fraction questions work?
Each question uses two proper fractions with denominators up to the limit you set. Answers are reduced with the greatest common divisor, and anything above one is also shown as a mixed number, so 7/4 appears as 7/4 (1 3/4).
Will division questions always come out exactly?
They will if Whole-number division only is ticked, because each question is built backwards from its answer. Untick it and you get true division with results rounded to two decimal places on the key.
How do I print the worksheet without the website around it?

What is a missing-number question good for?
Questions like 7 + __ = 12 build the inverse-operation thinking that algebra depends on. They are usually harder than the equivalent straight sum, so drop the number range a little when you first introduce them.
