The attendance percentage counts present and late as attended, divided by the days actually marked — so an unmarked column never drags the figure down and a blank sheet shows a dash rather than 0%. Print the PDF for a paper register, or export the CSV to carry the marks into a spreadsheet. Nothing about your class is uploaded.

What is the Attendance Sheet Generator?

An attendance sheet generator prints a roster against a grid of school days with columns for marking present, absent or late, plus per-student totals and an attendance percentage. Weekends and named holidays can be left out of the grid.

  • Whole month or custom date range, with weekends and named holidays excluded
  • Present, absent and late tally columns plus a percentage per student
  • Class summary row counting how many attended on each date
  • Optional on-screen marking that cycles a square through P, A, L and blank
  • Weekend columns shaded and every column labelled with its weekday
  • Landscape PDF for printing and a CSV export for spreadsheets

How to use the Attendance Sheet Generator

  1. 1

Paste your class roster, one name per line, in the order you want it printed.

  2. 2

Choose a whole month or a custom date range, and decide whether to skip Saturdays and Sundays.

  3. 3

List any holidays or closure days to leave out, one date per line as YYYY-MM-DD.

  4. 4

Tick Mark attendance on screen if you want to record marks now, and click each square to cycle present, absent and late.

  5. 5

Download the landscape PDF for a paper register, or the CSV to carry the marks into a spreadsheet.

About the Attendance Sheet Generator

The ByteTools Attendance Sheet Generator builds a register from your roster and a date range. Choose a whole month or set your own start and end dates, drop the weekends, and list any holidays or closure days to leave out — the columns are recalculated as you go and each one is labelled with the weekday initial and the date.

By default it is a clean blank register to print and fill in by hand, with tally columns for present, absent and late, a percentage column and a class summary row. Switch on on-screen marking and each square becomes a button that cycles through present, absent, late and blank, with the totals and percentages updating as you click.

The attendance percentage counts present and late as attended, divided by the days actually marked, so an unmarked column never drags the figure down and a blank sheet shows a dash rather than zero. Everything runs in your browser: print the PDF for a paper register or export the CSV for a spreadsheet, and no student data is ever uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How is the attendance percentage worked out?

Present and late both count as attended, and the total is divided by the number of days actually marked for that student rather than by every day on the sheet. A student with no marks shows a dash instead of 0%.

How do I leave school holidays off the register?

Type each closure date on its own line in the 'dates to skip' box, in YYYY-MM-DD form. Those columns disappear from the grid and from the CSV, and the school-day count updates immediately.

Can I print a blank attendance sheet to fill in by hand?

Yes, and that is the default. Leave on-screen marking switched off and the PDF prints an empty grid with the tally and percentage columns ready for a pen.

How many students and days fit on one sheet?

Up to 45 students down the page and 40 school days across it, which covers any single month comfortably. Longer ranges are trimmed to the first 40 days and the tool tells you so you can print the rest separately.

Are the attendance marks saved anywhere?

No. Marks live in the page while it is open and are never transmitted anywhere. Export the CSV or download the PDF before closing the tab if you want to keep them.
