Frequently asked questions
What should a rent receipt include?
At minimum the landlord's name, the tenant's name, the property address, the amount paid, the period the payment covers, the date and method of payment, and the landlord's signature. A unique receipt number makes a year's worth easy to file and audit.
Can I generate a full year of rent receipts at once?
Yes. Set the first month covered and enter up to 24 for the number of receipts, and the tool produces them as a single PDF with one receipt per page and sequentially numbered receipts — which is what tenants usually need for an annual claim.
Why does a rent receipt need a revenue stamp?
Some countries require a revenue stamp affixed to receipts above a threshold value for them to be legally valid evidence of payment. The stamp box is optional here — tick it only if the rules where the property is located call for one.
Is a rent receipt proof for a tax claim?
It is usually part of the evidence, but requirements differ widely. Some tax authorities also want the landlord's tax identification number, a rent agreement, or bank records for larger amounts. Check your local rules before submitting these with a claim.
Are the tenant's details stored anywhere?
