Split Video Into Parts
Cut a video into equal parts or fixed-length chunks and download each one separately. Lossless by default, with an option for exact cut points. Nothing is uploaded.
Without re-encoding, parts are copied straight out of the file and can only be cut on a keyframe, so lengths drift by up to a few seconds. That is instant and completely lossless. Tick the box above when the cut points have to be exact.

About the Split Video Into Parts
The ByteTools Split Video Into Parts tool cuts one long file into several shorter ones. Ask for a number of equal parts and it works out the length for you, or give it a chunk length in seconds for uploads that have a per-file time limit. Every part appears in a list with its size and its own download button.
By default the parts are copied straight out of the source with no re-encoding, which is instant and completely lossless — but a copy can only cut on a keyframe, so real part lengths drift by up to a few seconds. When the cut points genuinely matter there is a checkbox that forces keyframes at exact intervals and re-encodes, which is much slower but precise.
Everything runs 100% locally in your browser using a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg. Your video is never uploaded and there is no size limit imposed by a server. Because the parts are held in your tab's memory, the tool caps a run at 60 files to keep the page stable.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a video into equal parts?
Choose Split into a number of equal parts, enter how many you want, and click Split video. The tool divides the clip's length by that number and cuts at those points, showing you the target part length before it runs.
Why are my split parts not exactly the same length?
A lossless split can only cut where the video already has a keyframe, and most files only place one every few seconds. That is why the parts drift slightly. Tick Force exact cut points to re-encode with keyframes exactly where you need them.
Does splitting a video reduce quality?
Not in the default mode. The video and audio data are copied byte for byte into the new files with no re-encoding at all, so each part is exactly as good as the original. Only the exact-cut-points option re-encodes, and that does cost a little quality.
How do I split a video for a WhatsApp or Instagram status?
Switch to fixed chunk length and enter the platform's limit in seconds — 30 for a WhatsApp status, 60 for an Instagram story. The tool produces one file per chunk, each ready to post in order.
Can I download all the parts at once?
No, browsers only allow one file to be saved per click, so each part has its own Download button. Saving them one after another takes a few seconds and avoids the browser blocking the extra downloads as pop-ups.
